Any way to disconnect "loose" body parts?

Thanks for the reply. A bit of shame that you are limited to 2 meshes, but nothing to do about that. I cooked up a half-solution to the problem in the last pic where I connected loose body parts to the root with joints. It's not beautiful, but it stops them from stretching too far. From what I understand the problem is related to bones and skin weights that try to visually connect them to objects that has been cut of.
